Hon: 0.8.,

It is now three months since our shroff, Chung

Tak Yan, absconded and it would seem probable that,

with possibly a few exceptions, his defalcations have

now come to light.

It will be seen that the great majority of the

defalcations occurred in the few days intervening

between the shroff's return after his illness, and his

absconding.

I attach hereto a Schedule showing the amounte

embezzled.

The items are classified under the various

types of revenue affected:-

The Schedule may be summarized thus:-

Crown Rent

.$2522.10

Village Rates

$622.40

Hong Kong and Kowloon Village Rates...

$566.80

Water Accounts

.$395.25

Private Street Improvements Accounts

.$639.52

Drainage Accounts

.$600.00

Fees for Armed Guards

.$229.00

Cost (Stamps and Bailiff's Fees)

.$18.50

$5,749.67

Against this we hold $89.07 in cash left by the

shroff. Steps are being taken to recover $1,000 from

his sureties.
